Seriously though, he had the coolest job and he got to meet a lot of famous and interesting people. Occasionally, I was able to go tot work with him. I always thought my father was a big shot and an important person to most everyone.
He knew how to make people happy and they never forgot him because of that.
My father is proud of me for starting and growing my own firm. BUT HR was a little different back then. There was a lot more face-to-face than there is now. Now, you can just submit papers and documents online. My father says “Just call!” and he always stresses the human connection.
Today, I have carried on the philosophy of my father. While I do a lot of work virtually, I still like to nurture that human connection and visit my clients whenever I can. I saw the way my father created relationships with his colleagues and that looks just fine to me.
